Book Blurb:

Jack Sommers was just an ordinary accountant from Chicago. That is, until his wife passed away, his young daughter was kidnapped, and he became the main suspect in an $88 million dollar embezzlement case. Now, Jack is on the run, hoping to avoid the feds long enough to rescue his daughter, Sophie, from her maternal grandfather, a suspected terrorist in Palestine.
With the help of the investigative team who first appeared in Once We Were Brothers, Liam and Catherine, and a new CIA operative, a secret mission is launched to not only rescue Sophie, but also to thwart a major terrorist attack in Hebron. But will being caught in the crossfires of the Palestine-Israeli conflict keep their team from accomplishing the task at hand, or can they overcome the odds and save countless lives, including their own?

Saving Sophie is the perfect definition of a page-turner! Ronald H. Balson, you are 100% responsible for my walking around in a haze over Labor Day weekend, as once again, youโ€™ve written a book that kept me reading all night long! Me, Iโ€™m not complaining, but perhaps my husband was!

Note to readers, this is not a sequel to Once We Were Brothers, however the attorney and private detective return as main players in this novel. I wasnโ€™t sure I would remember them, but Balson re-introduces so that youโ€™re certain to recall their role in his previous book.

Thereโ€™s a lot going on this novel, which makes the story that much better: spies, kidnapping, embezzling, gambling, murders, basketball, romance, racism and terrorists, along with a good dollop of history to understand the land battles and conflict that have cloaked the Middle East.

The multiple story lines and how they intertwined were at the heart of this novel. There were a few characters Iโ€™d like to have known better, which wouldโ€™ve perhaps enriched some parts of the book even further.

So happy I got an advanced copy of this book and am canโ€™t wait to share it with all my followers!

Quotes I liked:

These everyday folks, they donโ€™t want to die, they want quality of life. We have to counter the teaching of intolerance. Itโ€™ll mean peace for both sides.โ€

-โ€œRacism will never win out. Itโ€™s flawed inย every sense because love is much stronger than hate.โ€
