JoJo Moyes delivers great books and this delightful one had me comparing them all like children, which I know is just awful. This particular story was much lighter than Me Before You, The Last Letter From Your Lover and The Girl You Left Behind, so I’d definitely classify it as chick-lit. There were no big twists and turns in this book but the characters were well developed, interesting and fun to be with. I found the title well chosen as it represented the sum of their family as well as Tanzie’s interest in math. Norman the dog was also symbolic of the main characters in his ability to trudge along, get knocked down, yet with the love from others he has the spirit to get back up. JoJo Moyes created relatable characters with real life problems that everyone can connect with…not many authors can depict the main love interest having diarrhea yet still make him entirely likeable. Overall, if you’re looking for a well-balanced romance with a heaping dose of family issues…this is your book!

Quotes I liked:

When you put someone down all the time, eventually they stop listening to the sensible stuff.”

– “The only thing Jess really cared about were those two children and letting them know they were okay. Because even if the whole world was throwing rocks at you, if you had your mother at your back, you’d be okay. Some deep-rooted part of you would know you were loved. That you deserved to be loved.”

– β€œHeartbreak was a luxury too costly for the single parent.”
